Massacre of Wola Ostrowiecka

Massacre of Wola Ostrowiecka was a 1943 mass murder of Polish inhabitants of a Volhynian village of Wola Ostrowiecka, located in the prewar gmina Huszcza, Luboml county, in the Volhynian Voivodeship of the Second Polish Republic. The perpetrators were nationalists of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army’s territorial command Piwnicz, supported by local Ukrainian peasants. On August 30, 1943, the Ukrainians surrounded the village, and began murdering its inhabitants.

Zbereże is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wola Uhruska, within Włodawa County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland, close to the border with Ukraine. Svitiaz

Svityaz is the deepest lake in Ukraine, with a maximum depth of 58.4 m. It is the second largest in the country. Svitiaz belongs to groups of Shatsk's lakes, which are located in Polissya in the utmost north-western corner of Ukraine, close to the borders with Poland and Belarus. The lake is part of Shatsk National Nature Park. In the middle of the lake there is an island of 7 hectares in size. The lake occupies an area of 25.2 km², the average depth is 6.9 m.
