Studley Roger

Studley Roger is a small village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It is about 1 mile west of Ripon. Neighbouring Studley Royal Park contains the remains of Fountains Abbey and is a World Heritage Site. Ordnance survey maps show there to be disused quarries, and looking at photos of the area you also discover photos of these quarries. The population of Studely Roger was 175 according to the 2011 census.

Studley Royal Park

Studley Royal including the ruins of Fountains Abbey is a designated World Heritage Site in North Yorkshire, England. The site, which has an area of 323 hectares features an 18th century landscaped garden, some of the largest Cistercian ruins in Europe, a Jacobean mansion and a Victorian church designed by William Burges. It was developed around the ruins of the Cistercian Fountains Abbey.

Liberty of Ripon

The Liberty of Ripon or Riponshire was a liberty possessing separate county jurisdiction, although situated within the county of Yorkshire. The liberty was under the jurisdiction of the Archbishop of York, a privilege claimed to have been granted by King Aethelstan in the 10th century.

The Diocese of Ripon and Leeds is an administrative division of the Church of England, part of the Province of York. It covers an area in western and northern Yorkshire as well as the south Teesdale area administered by County Durham which is traditionally part of Yorkshire. The cities of Ripon and Leeds are within its boundaries as are the towns of Harrogate, Richmond, Knaresborough, Hawes and Bedale and the surrounding countryside.
