Churnet Valley Railway

The Churnet Valley Railway is a preserved standard gauge heritage railway to the east of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The CVR has two main operational headquarters: Cheddleton station, where the motive power department is based and where the first trains ran, and Kingsley and Froghall station, where many passengers begin their journey.

Cheddleton Flint Mill

Cheddleton Flint Mill is a water mill situated in the village of Cheddleton in the English county of Staffordshire. The mill was built to grind flint for use in the pottery industry. The mill complex includes two separate water mills, a miller's cottage, two flint kilns, a drying kiln and outbuildings, and is adjacent to the Caldon Canal. The complex has been restored and is now maintained and operated by the Cheddleton Flint Mill Industrial Heritage Trust.

Kingsley, Staffordshire

Kingsley is a small village in the Staffordshire Moorlands near to Cheadle, and situated on the A52 from Stoke on Trent to Ashbourne. Nowadays the village is a quiet rural village but 100 years ago the Village was the centre of the Churnet Valley Iron Mining Industry. Partly as a consequence of this, Kingsley at one time had many pubs, but today only one remains, The Bull's Head, in High Street.

North Staffordshire

North Staffordshire describes an area of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It contains the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire Moorlands and the City of Stoke-on-Trent. The Stoke and Newcastle areas make up The Potteries Urban Area, whilst the Moorlands are largely rural. The Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme had a 2001 census population of 122,040. The population of Stoke-on-Trent was 240,636, whilst the Staffordshire Moorlands population was 94,489.

Caldon Canal

The Caldon Canal (or more properly, the Caldon Branch of the Trent & Mersey Canal), opened in 1779, runs 18 miles from Etruria, in Stoke-on-Trent where it leaves the Trent and Mersey Canal at the summit level, to Froghall, Staffordshire. The canal has 17 locks and the 69 metre long Froghall Tunnel.
