Woodward Island (California)

Woodward Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in San Joaquin County, California, twenty kilometres east of Antioch, and twenty kilometres west of Stockton. The 725 ha island is bounded on the west by Old River, on the north by Bacon Island, on the east by Middle River, and Woodward Canal on the south.

Rancho Los Meganos

Rancho Los Meganos was a 13,316-acre Mexican land grant in present day Contra Costa County, California given in 1835 by Governor José Castro to Jose Noriega. "Meganos" means "sand dunes" in Spanish. Rancho Los Meganos extends eastward from present day Antioch along the San Joaquin River to the Old River. The rancho lands included present day Oakley, Knightsen, and Brentwood.
