Ostrobothnia (region)

Ostrobothnia is a region of Finland. It is located in Western Finland. It borders the regions Central Ostrobothnia, Southern Ostrobothnia, and Satakunta and is one of the four regions making up the historical province of Ostrobothnia. Ostrobothnia is one of the two Finnish regions with a Swedish speaking majority, the other being Åland. The Swedish-speakers make up 51.2%.

Korsholm Church

Korsholm Church is a church building in the city of Vaasa, in the region of Österbotten in Finland. Originally the building was built for the Court of Appeal between 1776 and 1786, and designed by Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz. After the city, including the church, burnt down in 1852, the building was rebuilt as a church under the direction of Carl Axel Setterberg, who worked as a county architect for the county of Vasa.

Korsholma Castle

Korsholm Castle (Finnish: Korsholman linna, Swedish: Korsholm slott, also known as Chrysseborg) was a medieval castle in Vaasa, Finland. It was probably built in the 1370s. Today a low mound is all that remains of the castle.

Aero Flight 311

Aero Flight 311 (AY311), often referred to as the Koivulahti air disaster, was a scheduled domestic passenger flight operated by Aero O/Y between Kronoby, Finland and Vaasa. The aircraft, a Douglas DC-3C, crashed near Kvevlax on January 3, 1961, killing all twenty-five people on board. The disaster remains the deadliest civilian aviation accident in the history of Finland.
