Lehavim-Rahat Railway Station

Lehavim Rahat Railway Station is a station on the Israel Railways lines between Tel Aviv (and points north) and Beersheba, located near Lehavim Junction. The station was opened on June 23, 2007. It serves the suburb of Lehavim and the Bedouin community of Rahat. The station was briefly renamed to Lehavim Railway Station, or Lehavim Center Railway Station, although Rahat was added back to the name after a campaign led by Rahat's mayor, Talal al-Karnawi.

Green Line (Israel)

Green Line refers to the demarcation lines set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and its neighbours after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The Green Line is also used to mark the line between Israel and the territories captured in the Six-Day War, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula (the last has since been returned to Egypt as part of the 1979 peace treaty).

Bnei Shimon Regional Council

The Bnei Shimon Regional Council, is a regional council in the northern Negev in the south of Israel. Most of its territory lies north of Beersheba and the rest bounds Beersheba on the west and east sides as well. The eastern border of this territory straddles the Green Line. There are 13 communities including seven kibbutzim, four moshavim, and two new rural towns. Four of the communities (three kibbutzim and one moshav) were established in the founding of the '11 points in the Negev' in 1946.

Monument to the Negev Brigade

The Monument to the Negev Brigade, known locally as the Andarta, is a monument designed by Dani Karavan in memory of the members of the Palmach Negev Brigade who fell defending Israel during the 1948 Arab Israeli War. It is situated on a hill overlooking the city of Beersheba from the east and constitutes a recognized symbol of the Negev and Beersheba. In addition to its strengths as a memorial, it was a precursor to the land art movement.
