Hebron Governorate

The Hebron Governorate is an administrative district of the Palestinian National Authority in the southern West Bank. It extends south to, and includes most of, the Dead Sea. The governorate's land area is 1,060 square kilometers and its population according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in mid-year 2010 was 600,364. This makes the Hebron Governorate the largest of 16 governorates in both population and land area in the Palestinian territories.

Abraham Avinu Synagogue

The Abraham Avinu Synagogue was built by Hakham Malkiel Ashkenazi in the Jewish Quarter of Hebron in 1540. The domed structure represented the physical center of the Jewish Quarter of Hebron, and became the spiritual center of the Jewish Community there and a major center for the study of Kabalah. It was restored in 1738 and enlarged in 1864.

Tel Rumeida

Tel Rumeida is the site of a Jewish Israeli settlement and a number of Palestinian houses and families as well. In proximity is an Israeli military base. According to Ehud Sprinzak, an Israeli counterterrorism specialist and expert in far-right Jewish groups, the hill was settled by "a small number of very radical Jewish families" in 1986. The most well known resident is Baruch Marzel, a right-wing activist and head of the Jewish National Front, who lives there with his family.

Beit HaShalom

Beit HaShalom, (Hebrew: בית השלום‎, lit. the House of Peace, or, otherwise, Beit HaMeriva, or the Al Rajabi House settlement is a four-story structure that housed a local Hebron Jewish community of 25 families, youth and yeshiva students. The structure is located on the main road linking Kiryat Arba to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. The site was reportedly purchased by a descendant of the earlier Hebron community.
