Green Line (Israel)
Green Line refers to the demarcation lines set out in the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and its neighbours after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Asa'el, also known as Mitzpe Asa'el, is an Israeli settlement outpost in the West Bank. Located three kilometres south-east of Shim'a, it falls under the jurisdiction of Har Hebron Regional Council. It was established in early 2002. In 2008 it was announced that the Yesha Council was making preparations to evacuate the outpost. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
