Naval Battle of Kaliakra

The Battle of Kaliakra, usually known as the Attack of the Drazki (Bulgarian: Атаката на Дръзки) in Bulgaria, was a maritime action between four Bulgarian torpedo boats and the Ottoman cruiser Hamidiye in the Black Sea. It took place on 21 November 1912 at 32 miles off Bulgaria's primary port of Varna.

Kaliakra

Kaliakra is a long and narrow headland in the Southern Dobruja region of the northern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, located 12 km east of Kavarna and 60 km northeast of Varna. The coast is steep with vertical cliffs reaching 70 m down to the sea. Kaliakra is a nature reserve, where dolphins, cormorants and pinnipeds can be observed. It sits on the Via Pontica, a major bird migration route from Africa into Eastern and Northern Europe.

Kaliakra transmitter

The Kaliakra transmitter is a huge facility for medium wave broadcasting, which was built after 1988 by the former Soviet Union as a relay transmitter for Southeast Europe. After the collapse of communism in 1989, there was no need for the facility and work was stopped. At that time, 9 of the planned 10 masts were already completed and work on the final mast had begun. Some masts were already equipped with cage antennas, while others remained bare.

Rusalka, Bulgaria

Rusalka (Bulgarian: Русалка, "mermaid"; also Russalka and Roussalka) is a seaside resort on the northern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast located in Dobrich Province, northeastern Bulgaria (the historical region of Southern Dobruja). It is located in a nature reserve in a bay 90 km northeast of Varna and 23 km from Shabla, surrounded by oak forests. The whole resort is an all-inclusive area of 600 luxurious one-storey houses.

Kavarna Stadium

Kavarna Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kavarna, Bulgaria. It is located in the south part of the city. Currently, the venue is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of the local Bulgarian A PFG football club, PFC Kaliakra Kavarna. The stadium has an overall capacity of 5,000 spectators and was built in 1967. The stadium is situated in the Kaliakra Sport Complex, which was constructed along with the renovation of the stadium in 2008.
